At this stage, I began creating a 3D model of the fox which I will use as a reference for the final images. (See my second project 3D work for the modelling process)
In the end Acrylic paint is the Winner! I felt like I was faster and under less pressure working with acrylic paint so it is my chosen medium
After deciding on my medium of choice and visual style, it was brought up to me that making this story as a book instead of a comic might work better. As much as I love comics and want to make some in the future I did agree that going ahead with making a book was a better fit.
Next up is mock-ups
Before I star painting I need to make the 'actual' sketches
Sketches part 1
Paintings part 1 (before editing and touch ups)
Sketches part 2
Paintings part 2 (before editing and touch ups)
Some process photos
Apologies for the glare of my lamp
Final paintings after editing and digital touch-ups
When I went into figuring out the type I thought that the type being thicker and easier to read was better since there was so little text
I got advice from one of the graphic teacher, and I was told not to use a simple font and make it smaller so the text wont take attention away from the images (Thank you Damon Mahoney!)
Pages examples with text
For the cover I explored different ideas but the ones I liked the best were very similar to one of the paintings. So I decided to repurpose that painting to make the cover
